Idaho fires continue to burn

Firefighters continue to battle several blazes across Idaho this morning.

— The Bruneau Fire five miles northwest of Murphy Hot Springs is now estimated at 61,000 acres. Containment and control of the blaze is still unknown at this time.

— The Jim Sage fire is burning in heavy juniper, grass and brush five miles southeast of Elba. The fire is currently pushing north and south, reaching the ridge top on the northern flank and has torched 1900 acres. The fire area is expecting gusty winds this afternoon. Structures near the fire are secure at this time.

— The Mile Marker 73 & Highway 55 Fire near Gardena is now estimated to be 3,500 acres. A Type 1 Team has arrived and took over fire operations this morning. Highway 55 has now been reopened in both directions…with no restrictions.

— A wildfire is burning near US 95 north of Weiser. Officials from the forest service are calling the fire the Keithly Fire. They say it was started by lightning on Wednesday. It’s burning four miles northwest of Midvale on BLM land and private property. It has burned 7,500 acres in brush and grass.

— The Rattlesnake Creek fire, located on the west side of highway 95 near Pollock has grown to over 3000 acres. The fire is actively burning in timber and grass with no containment estimate right now. The Idaho County and Adams County Sheriff’s Offices have issued pre-evacuation notices to residents in the North Pollock, Whitewater Wilderness Ranch Estates, and Pinehurst areas.

— The Lodgepole Fire is approximately 1,616 acres and 75 percent contained. It is located about 16 miles northeast of Garden Valley ID.
