UPDATED: Meridian Police Officer Identified, Recovering at Home After Sunday Shooting

Boise (670 KBOI News) – The Meridian police officer who was shot serving a warrant Sunday is recovering from two gunshot wounds to his legs.

Meridian Deputy Police Chief Tracy Basterrechea says the good new is…Officer Kyle Mikowski out of the hospital.

“He was just released from the hospital, and he is at home, recovering with his family,” said Basterrechea.  “We know the community would like to recognize him for his bravery and sacrifice, but we just ask that everybody respect his privacy right now.”

One of the other two people who were in the Dodge Durango when the shooting happened turned himself in on an unrelated warrant.   Basterrechea says he’s being treated as a witness at this time, not a suspect.

Police are still looking for a third person who ran from the scene.  She’s described only as a Hispanic woman, but Basterrechea says they’re narrowing down the suspect list.
