Private Investigators to Search for Missing Grangeville Woman

Grangeville (670 KBOI News) – The family of a missing Grangeville woman is bringing in a private investigative team to mount a massive search this weekend.

Daniel Landis is the lead investigator for DL Investigating.  He says Shawnta Pankey had been camping with her boyfriend along the Salmon River near the Pine Bar put-in, when she disappeared on April 15th.

“We’re gonna have a lot of people up here, and out social media has exploded, so there could be hundreds, literally, of people up here,” said Landis.  “Boots on the ground?  I’ve done quite a bit of that already, but the terrain is — I mean it’s tough.  You just can’t cover enough with one or two people.  No way.”

He says there’s no proof yet that a cowboy boot found near Lewiston, matching the description of those Shawnta was wearing when she disappeared, is actually hers. That boot is being examined by a forensics team.

Landis says anyone interested in volunteering for the search this Saturday and Sunday should email [email protected]. Hunters, hikers, backpackers, and especially pilots and backpackers are welcome to volunteer, he said.
