Boise (670 KBOI News) – Idaho Fish and Game is moving ahead with a grizzly hunt in Eastern Idaho, inside the boundary of Yellowstone National Park.
Spokesman Toby Boudreau says being as Idaho has so little land in the park boundary, there will be only one tag issued.
“The season will be from September 1 through November 15th,” said Boudreau. “The bag limit will be for one grizzly bear, although no young, or no female with young can be harvested.”
You can apply for the draw starting June 15th, and running through July 15th. It’s for Idaho residents only.
Boudreau says grizzlies have been delisted, and hunting is part of the management strategies of Idaho and Wyoming…Montana will not have a grizzly hunt.
Fish and Game held two public meetings, and took online comment before making the decision. Boudreau says they also got thousands of emails, but the vast majority of those were pre-written forms from conservation groups.
