CJ Strike Reservoir (670 KBOI News) – The weekend forecast is calling for sunny to partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures this weekend. And if that doesn’t have you ready to hook up the boat and head out for some fishing, this will.
Idaho Power has spent the week stocking CJ Strike Reservoir with 50,000 pan-sized rainbows, at the Cottonwood and Jack’s Creek access areas.
Spokesman Brad Bowlin says they aren’t catch and release fish, either.
“They’ll be hauling those fish from a hatchery down in the Hagerman Valley, and putting them in the water,” said Bowlin. “These are hatchery-raised trout, and if folks want to take those home and fry ’em up, then they’re certainly welcome to do that. These are not fish that are required to be caught and released.”
Bowlin says if you catch one with a metal jaw tag, you can still keep it, just write down the tag number, date, time and location. Then call (800) 388-6011, and give that information to the operator, and you’ll be eligible for a $1,000 drawing at the end of the season.
