Boise (670 KBOI News) – Boise Fire investigators think the fire Monday night at the Gene Harris Bandshell in Julia Davis Park was set by someone…that it was not an electrical fire.
Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway says details are still scarce at this time, so they don’t know if it was deliberately or accidentally set…or where it was started.
“The only thing we have heard from the Fire Department at this point is it’s an ongoing investigation<” said Holloway. “But it does appear to be human caused. Now I believe it has been turned over to Boise Police, and they will pick up the investigation from here.”
Holloway says they’ll be bringing in a team in the next few days to evaluate the bandshell to determine if it can be repaired. Firefighters earlier said it was structurally unsound.
The fire started around 8:00 Monday night; three engines and a ladder truck from Boise fire responded. The bandshell was heavily damaged on one wall and the roof. It’ll be fenced off and off limits for a long time.
