IDFG Plans to Stock Thousands of Rainbow Trout in Next Few Weeks

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Wasn’t the weekend weather great? The warm temperatures and sunny skies have a lot of people in the Treasure Valley thinking it’s time to grab the tackle box and head out to the local pond for some fishing.

Evin Oneale with Idaho Fish and Games says their stocking schedule is up on their website, and over the next few weeks, they’ll be stocking dozens of ponds with thousands of rainbow trout…all you have to do is buy a license and go catch ’em.

“We’re stocking fish from McCall south, all the way down to Marsing,” said Oneale.  “There’s a lot fo fish going in the water this particular month, the month of May, and we want to encourage folks to get out into this nice weather, and get on the water and do some fishing.”

Oneale says anyone under 14 doesn’t need a license, as long as they’re fishing with someone who has one. He says they want families to pass along the love of the sport to their kids, and that’s a great way to do it.
