Idaho’s March Tax Revenue Was Up 10% Over Expectations

Boise  (670 KBOI News) – Idaho’s state Treasury is flush with cash…tax revenues for March were 10% higher than projected, according to the Division of Financial Management.

Spokeswoman Jani Revier says roughly $15.4 million more came in than they thought would…an increase of nearly 20% from March of 2017.

But she urged caution to anyone who feels like breaking into their happy dance.

“Some of the revenue that came in really strong in January and December could be due to timing,” said Revier.  “People may be pre-paying some of their April tax payments, so they might not come in as strong in April.  But since every month has continued to come in really strong, there’s probably more to this than just timing.”

She said right now, they’re holding their breath to see how April’s numbers come in…if they’re strong, the rest of the year should be just fine. But a bad April could wipe out the surplus.
