Beware the “Dirty Dozen”…no, Not Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Tax Day this year is April 16…the IRS is giving you one extra day to file because the 15th is on a Sunday.

So…are you still sweating out how to file your federal tax return? Karen Connelly with the IRS Denver office says about 70% of the nation will be able to file online through IRS Free File, which she says has all the features of the software you pay for at the store, only it’s free.

“All of them have the same protocols that we use, the big major ones are reputable,” said Connelly.  “One of the things we offer is IRS Free File.  You can go to our wenbite, IRS.gov, if you earn $66,000 or less last year, you can file your taxes for free.”

Connelly says they’re also warning people about what they’re calling the “dirty dozen”…a list of a dozen scams making the rounds that you may run into while preparing and filing your return this year. Click here to see the Dirty Dozen…not the movie, but the scammers.
