Boise (670 KBOI News) – An Eastern Idaho news outlet is reporting the turtle that was seized from Preston Junior High by Idaho Fish and Game Thursday has been euthanized.
According to East Idaho News, the turtle was put down by the State Department of Agriculture today…a press release stated that snapping turtles are non-native species that are highly adaptable, top-tier predators. To keep exotic species like snapping turtles, you have to have a permit.
The turtle was allegedly fed a live puppy last week by science teacher Robert Crosland…he’s under investigation by the 6th Judicial District, but is still on the job.
Also, the Idaho Press Tribune is reporting Preston Police officers have been on duty at city schools this week after threats were allegedly made. 670 KBOI has contacted sources on both of these stories, but have yet to hear back from anyone.
