Nampa HS Student Group Says Arm Teachers, Don’t Pass More Gun Control

Nampa (670 KBOI News) – Students will march on the Idaho Statehouse at 10:00 tomorrow morning, to voice support for more gun control laws, in the wake of the Parkland shooting.

But a group of students at Nampa High School plans to mark the occasion a different way, from a different angle. Ethan Schmerer is a freshman, who co-founded Arm Our Teachers USA, says the only way to truly deter future school shooters is to arm faculty and school staffers.

“You look at places like Israel, where there are armed staff in every school,” said Ethan.  “Their murder rates in their schools are virtually non-existent.  We advertise at our schools that these are gun-free zones, and so if you’re gonna come in here with a gun, you’re gonna be unopposed.”

Ethan says they’ll honor the 17 victims in Parkland by walking out of class for 17 minutes…then going back to class.

He says they’re not a one and done group, either…they’re planning rallies on March 24th, and again in April.
