CBD Oil Bill Clears House, Heads to Senate

Boise (670 KBOI News) – House Bill 577, which would legalize cannabidoil oil, under a doctors’ control, is headed to the Idaho Senate.

The bill cleared the House on a 59-11 vote Wednesday…Representative Dorothy Moon of Stanley, the bill’s sponsor, said CBD oil is not the boogey man that some in the House have tried to portray it.

“It cannot get you high, you cannot hallucinate with it, it is such a low amount of THC present, that it really should be considered a supplement,” said Moon.  “Then it should be, in my opinion, considered a Schedule 1 drug.”

Some House members complained that legalizing CBD oil would open the door to medical marijuana, others said it would lead to people being ripped off by those selling snake oil.

Moon answered that the CBD oil would have to be prescribed by a health practitioner, and come from approved labs.

In 2015, a CBD oil bill cleared both houses, only to be vetoed by Governor Otter.
