Boise (670 KBOI) – It’s back…a draft bill introduced in the House Health and Welfare Committee Thursday would legalize cannabidoil oil in Idaho.
Representative Dorothy Moon of Stanley says there would be restrictions to who could prescribe it.
“What this legislation would provide for is the lawful use of cannabidoil oil, or CBD,” said Moon. “It needs to be prescribed by a practitioner, by a physician, and we will have a registration, and then we’ll also make sure this CBD Oil was legally obtained, and does not exceed a .3 THC.”
If the bill became law, those allowed to use CBD oil would have to register with the Idaho Board of Pharmacy, and get a registration card.
CBD oil, which is derived from cannabis plants, but contains trace amounts of THC, or none at all, is legal in 18 states.
Governor Otter vetoed a bill to legalize the use of CBD oil for kids with epilepsy…it’s said to be effective in treating other seizure and non-seizure disorders, too.
