Boise (670 KBOI)) – The open enrollment period for Your Health Idaho is over, and Executive Director Pat Kelly says it was a good year for the exchange.
He says around 102,000 Idahoans signed up for coverage under Your Health Idaho — that’s not a record, but close to it — and some of them are actually saving some money.
“One of the things we saw this year is some people shopping around,” said Kelly. “The changes with the federal funding for cost shares, caused many people to shop around, and find plans that were near zero premium.”
Kelly says the repeal of the Obamacare individual mandate, which doesn’t kick in until 2019, probably won’t affect Your Health Idaho much, if at all.
He also says being as how the exchange was set up with a great deal of local control, it should be able to survive even if Obamacare is fully repealed by Congress.
