Risch: Haley Doing a Great Job, US Right to Recognize Jerusalem

Washington DC (670 KBOI) – The United Nations General Assembly today voted 128-9 to declare President Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem illegal.

Idaho US Senator Jim Risch, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, says the President was perfectly in his rights to make the decision, because it actually was made decades ago.

“Interestingly enough, Congress voted in 1995 to move our Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which we recognize as their capital” said Risch.  “That was a bipartisan vote.  Every president that’s run since then has committed that he would move the Embassy, and Donald Trump did it.”

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley warned that American generosity to the UN could be affected if the General Assembly took sides against us.

Risch said now’s not the time to talk specifics, but there are many ways that the warning can, and may, be fulfilled.  He also said Haley is doing a great job as UN Ambassador.
