As Christmas Draws Near, USPS Reminds You to Watch for Deadlines

Boise (670 KBOI) – Procrastinators, beware…you’re running out of time to get packages in the mail before Christmas.

Boise Postmaster Dan Corral says they have an army of temporary employees helping out, but you need to get a move on and get your packages to them.

“The latest we’re going to be open at the counter is 5:30 PM, but we’ll be sweeping our lobby drops until 6:30 or 7:00 at night.” says Corral.  “Then we also have the processing plant there on Cole Road behind Costco, that will be accepting packages until 8:00 at their lobby drop.”

Monday was the deadline to make sure overseas packages get to your deployed serviceman or woman by December 15th…if you get it in the mail tonight or tomorrow night, it still might get there, but there’s no guarantee.

Remember, if you’re sending a package to an APO or FPO address, there are Customs forms to fill out, so figure that into how much time you have left.

For most packages and cards, the deadline is next Wednesday, December 20th.  But for the official deadlines and post office locations, click on this link.
