Boise (670 KBOI News) – The man who admitted killing Boise State student Sierra Bush in 2016 is headed to prison for a long, long time.
Deputy Ada County Prosecutor Brian Naugle says Bruce Marchant learned his punishment today.
“He was sentenced to a term of fixed life in prison, that essentially means he’ll go to prison without the possibility of parole for the rest of his life,” said Naugle.
Marchant is 62 years old, and has already spent several years behind bars.
He admitted to killing Bush in September of 2016, and dumping her body in Moore’s Creek, south of Idaho City.
A few days later, he crashed his car in Idaho County…police found evidence in the car linking Marchant to the murder.
He was arrested last December at a VA hospital in New York City, brought back to Boise, and indicted for the murder last June.
