Victim in suspected murder-suicide identified

Meridian (670 KBOI) – The Meridian woman who died in a suspected murder suicide was stabbed to death, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office.

In a press release, the Coroner’s Office said 65-year old Joy Lynne Frizell died of multiple stab wounds at her home on Italy Street Wednesday night.

Meridian Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea says it began with a call asking Meridian Police to do a welfare check at her home…

“We were initially contacted after the Gem County Sheriff’s Office began investigating an unattended death of a male adult in their county,” said Basterrechea.  “During that investigation, after gathering information from family members, they were concerned for the safety of the deceased man’s girlfriend.”

That woman was Frizell.  Officers went to her home, knocked at the door, but got no response. They broke in, and found Frizell dead.

The identity of the Gem County has not yet been released,  The investigation continues.
