9 Random Questions With Michael Ray

9 Random Questions With Michael Ray

Fresh off of his No. 1 single, “Think a Little Less,” Michael Ray stopped by the Nash Country Daily offices to talk about what that achievement means to him.

“It’s everything,” Michael tells Nash Country Daily. “All the hard work that started with the songwriters that wrote this song—Thomas Rhett, Barry Dean, Jon Nite, Jimmy Robbins. It starts with them. Then the process of loving it, recording it, putting it out, all the work that it takes to work a single. Not only just me, but the people that nobody knows or sees that are behind the scenes working just as hard or harder some days then I am in their regions. It’s just something for everybody to get together and go ‘Man, all the way back whatever day it was when those four guys wrote this song to today—now it’s the number one song in country music.”

In an effort to get Michael to think a little more, we threw nine random questions at him about everything from television and crying to breakfast and curse words. Check out his answers.

1. What puts you in a good mood?

Waking up. I’m a morning person. It’s irritating to the majority of my band and anybody else that travels with us.

2. If there was a movie of your life, who would you want to play you?

I’m going to say this because he’s a good friend of mine, Chad Michael Murray. Just because I would like to see him play me.

3. Last show you binge watched?

This is Us. It’s my favorite TV show.

4. If you were granted one wish, what would you ask for?

Not to get deep, but I would turn back time for a few moments and hit pause or slow some stuff down a few years ago. Or, [laughing] I’d wish for them to not make buying a house so difficult with so much paperwork. I just bought a house. I just didn’t know all the stuff. I thought we’d just buy a house and move on. Negative, it’s like a new record deal.

5. What’s your favorite breakfast meal?

There’s a little mom and pop place in my hometown in Eustis, Fla., called Jeannie’s Place and their omelets there are killer. Yeah, that’s my all-time favorite. You can’t go wrong with eggs, grits and toast.

6. Favorite item of clothing?

T-shirts.

7. Favorite curse word?

Probably “damn.”

8. Last time you cried?

Watching This Is Us  [NBC’s hit television drama]

9. Three words that describe you?

Loyal, respectful, fun-loving.
