Watch American Young Honor Our Veterans and Their Families With a Powerful Performance of “Soldier’s Wife” on “America’s Morning Show”

Country duo American Young—Kristy Osmunson and Jon Stone—stopped by America’s Morning Show today on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) to perform their song “Soldier’s Wife (Don’t Want You to Go),” a tune that pays tribute to the families left behind of those who serve in the military.

“Our [self-titled] album came out in August, but we’ve been doing ‘Soldier’s Wife’ for about four years,” says Kristy. “It was actually one of the very first songs we recorded as a band. The first time I ever heard it, I thought it was the most powerful song I had heard.”

“We [Billy Montana and Hannah Blaylock] wrote this about four years ago,” says Jon. “We hear a lot of songs in our format that pay homage to our soldiers and troops fighting for all the freedoms that we like to enjoy, but we rarely hear a song that pays homage to the ones who are left behind that have to wait for them—their spouses.”

“Being a part of the country music community, the most amazing thing—the thing that keeps me in this industry—is being able to play shows for our military because you’ll never meet a more devoted type of person, who has given their life and their family’s by living in service of our country,” says Kristy.
