Lions & Snakes & Owls, Oh My: Watch Carrie Underwood’s New “Dirty Laundry” Video

Carrie Underwood is back on the airwaves with a new music video for her current single, “Dirty Laundry,” which is currently No. 20 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart.

The new clip, shot entirely in black and white by director Shane C. Drake (Tim McGraw’s “Highway Don’t Care”), features a hodgepodge of humans and animals—including predatory lions, snakes and owls—as well as a few well-placed inanimate objects, such as flaming doorknobs and shoes.

It not difficult to draw the parallels between human behaviors and animal instincts in the video as a snake slithers through a piece of white laundry while Carrie sings about an unfaithful husband: All those midnights sneaking in / “I’m late again, oh, I’m so sorry” / All the Ajax in the world ain’t gonna clean your dirty laundry.

“Dirty Laundry” is a little more subtle than the bat-bashing video for “Before He Cheats,” but the point is clear.
