Eric Church Reveals Holdin’ My Own Tour During Red Rocks Performance

Eric Church has a way of giving his fans what they want. The “My Hometown” singer made a big announcement on Monday, Aug. 8, just minutes before he took the stage for his performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado.

Eric, wearing his signature aviator glasses, talked directly to his audience and fans through Facebook Live. He announced that he will be hitting the road in 2017 for his 60-plus city Holdin’ My Own Tour and for the first-time ever there will be no opening act. Eric and his band will perform two full sets with an intermission in between.

“Hey, we are live at Red Rocks,” Eric said. “I want you guys to be the first to know about our tour that kicks off January 13, 60 cities, Holdin’ My Own Tour. We’re going to play two sets every night and you, the Church Choir, have the first crack at all the tickets, and I hope you buy every damn one of ’em. Go to ericchurch.live or ericchurch.com, they have all the info. I got a show to play.”

Ticket scalpers have been known to horde tickets before Eric’s core fans can get to them, and that hasn’t sat well with the entertainer. To combat the scalpers, Eric has revamped the pre-sale and on-sale process.

“The way this album came together mandated we release it as a surprise, straight to our fans, as it was important for me to deliver the music the same way the creativity hit me—directly and swiftly,” Eric said in a statement. “What I didn’t anticipate is that it left me scratching my head a little as this year was supposed to be spent writing. What this year’s open schedule did afford us was time to think through the way the fans experience our music live, and it was important to us that we find a way to stick to these same principles when it came to approaching our shows, down to the way they go on sale.”
