The Rise of the Machines

One of my favorite experiences as a father was watching my kids play sports. I was never a very accomplished athlete, and I knew my kids would probably follow in my footsteps, but it was always fun to watch them compete. And then my youngest son decided to abandon his athletic endeavors for something else…ROBOTICS! When he first got involved, I thought it was just a little after-school hobby. I couldn’t have been more wrong! If you have a child who’s interested in math, science, and technology, I strongly recommend going to www.firstinspires.org and learning more about FIRST Robotics. It’s absolutely fascinating, and better still, your child can earn scholarships to college! As much as I loved watching my kids play baseball, basketball, football, golf and tennis, I knew there was no way they’d ever be able to earn scholarships in those fields. But in robotics, the chances of getting scholarships are much more likely, and the skills and knowledge these kids acquire is definitely applicable in the real world of science and technology…and that’s where the money is!
